Do you want to make a difference in the future of Bayport?  Help us strengthen our Library and position it for success in the future.  Help us meet community needs and grow our services!  The Bayport Public Library is for our entire community!

Serving on a volunteer board is a great way to get involved and make a difference in your local government and community. Currently, the city is seeking residents to fill a vacancy on the Library Board. Terms are for three years, starting in January 2023.  The Library Board meets on the third Tuesday of the month.

The purpose of the Library Board is to approve expenditures of money collected for and contained within the library fund, as it relates to operations of the library buildings and grounds. In addition to monthly meetings, members must be willing to commit additional time, as necessary, to fulfill committee assignments.

The Library Board is responsible for hiring and evaluating the Library Director, approving library policies, and approving the annual budget.  The Library Board sets the strategic directions for the future of the Library.

In addition, the Library Board helps spread the word about Library programs and services in the community.   Members of the Library Board also work to increase both financial and community support for the Library.  Members must be residents of the City of Bayport.

Residents interested in being considered for appointment to the current vacancy on the Library Board should submit this Board application form to Bayport City Hall, 294 North 3rd Street, Bayport, MN 55003 or submit it via email to jsmith@ci.bayport.mn.us.  Please submit your application by October 1.
